Missing Teeth Replacement: Dentures
Affordable Dentures in Guildford, Surrey
Whether you need a full set of dentures or partial dentures to replace a few missing teeth, Surrey Dental Practice offers quality, affordable dentures in Guildford. Removable dentures (false teeth) sit over your gums and any remaining natural teeth to restore your smile and your ability to eat and speak comfortably. They are also the most cost-effective way to replace missing teeth compared with bridges or implants. See our fee guide for current prices.
What are dentures made of?
Most dentures in the UK are made from one of three materials. Acrylic is the most common and the most budget-friendly, used for both full and partial dentures. Flexible (soft) dentures use a thinner, more flexible base that many patients find more comfortable against the gums. Cobalt chrome dentures have a slim metal framework with acrylic teeth attached, which makes them strong and thin. Your dentist will help you choose based on your mouth, your budget and how you want the denture to feel.
Partial dentures
These are removable replacements for just one tooth or a few missing teeth. There are three types:
Acrylic Denture

Our acrylic partial dentures are a low-cost, reliable way to replace one or several missing teeth. They are strong, easy to adjust and finished to a high polish for a natural look. If you are looking for budget dentures in Guildford, this is where most patients start. Prices from £580
Flexible Denture

Flexible dentures are sometimes called soft dentures. Because the base is not rigid acrylic, there is less rubbing on the gums, and most patients find them easier to tolerate. They are a good option if hard acrylic has been uncomfortable for you in the past. Prices from £830
Chrome Cobalt Denture

A cobalt chrome denture has a thin metal framework that sits around your natural teeth, with acrylic teeth attached. Because the metal is strong, the denture can be much thinner than acrylic, which many patients find more comfortable. Prices from £1,000
Complete dentures

A complete (full) denture replaces all the teeth on your upper jaw, lower jaw or both. Most full dentures are acrylic. If you cannot tolerate the thickness of an acrylic denture, a full chrome denture (also called a full metal or chrome cobalt full upper denture) may be an option. Full dentures are removable and should be taken out at night. Ask us whether a metal base would suit you.
Partial or complete dentures help people bring back the normal functionality of their mouth when they have lost almost all of their teeth.
Unlike implants and bridges and dentures, they are not permanently fixed in the mouth and must be removed at night when you sleep.
It is worth paying attention to your cleaning, as food can become trapped in between the dentures and your natural teeth.

Dental Implant Treatment FAQs
Do silicone dentures really work?
“Silicone dentures” is usually a name for ready-made, off-the-shelf products sold online. They are not made to the shape of your mouth, so fit and comfort can vary a lot, and they are not a substitute for a denture made by a dentist.
We make custom dentures from impressions of your mouth. If comfort is your main concern, a flexible (soft) denture is the closest custom-made alternative.
Can you use silicone dentures if you have no teeth?
Ready-made products are not designed around your gums and bite, so we would not recommend relying on them. A custom full denture is made to fit your own gums. Book a consultation and we will recommend the best option for you.
What are semi-permanent dentures?
The term is not a clinical one. It is usually used for dentures that stay in more securely, for example implant-retained dentures. Only keep this answer if the practice offers it; otherwise say: “We offer removable dentures, which should be taken out at night. Ask us about more secure options.”
Is Fixodent good for dentures?
Denture adhesives can help in the short term, but a well-fitting denture should not need much adhesive. If you rely on it every day, or your denture feels loose, it may need adjusting or replacing. Book a check-up rather than adding more adhesive.
Where can I get dentures made near me?
We make dentures at our practice at 127 Worplesdon Road, Guildford. After an assessment and impressions, your denture is made to fit your mouth, with fit appointments to check comfort.
How do I look after my dentures?
Remove them at night, clean them daily with a soft brush and a non-abrasive denture cleaner, and soak them overnight in water or denture solution. Brush your gums and remaining teeth too, because food can get trapped between the denture and natural teeth.
