Missing Teeth Replacement

Dentures

Removable dentures (false teeth) are artificial teeth, made from different materials.  They are fitted over the remaining teeth and gums of the patient to make them look like they still have a full set of teeth. It is also the most cost-effective option for people who can’t afford dental bridges or implants.

There are two types of dentures: partial and complete dentures.

Partial dentures

These are removable replacements for just one tooth or a few missing teeth. There are three types:

Acrylic Denture

These are a range of both heat cure and cold cure denture base acrylics, created for the manufacture of full or partial dentures. Designed to produce dentures with exceptionally high strength, high lustre finish, easy to trim and polish.

Flexible Denture

It is sometimes called soft denture and offers a solution to the pain and discomfort caused by the rubbing of hard acrylic against the soft tissue of your gums. Most patients are able to tolerate this form of denture better.

Chrome Cobalt Denture

Cobalt Chrome dentures have a metal base plate or framework that sits on and around the natural teeth onto which denture teeth are attached to by acrylic.

Complete dentures

These are a full set of false teeth for either the upper, lower or both jaws. Most of the time they are acrylic but in rare cases, they may have a chrome-cobalt metal base if the patient can’t tolerate the thickness of the acrylic denture.

Partial or complete dentures help people bring back the normal functionality of their mouth when they have lost almost all of their teeth. Unlike implants and bridges and dentures, they are not permanently fixed in the mouth and must be removed at night when you sleep.

It is worth paying attention to your cleaning, as food can become trapped in between the dentures and your natural teeth.
